Important Lane and Ramp Closures for the Week of October 4 – October 11

DULLES CORRIDOR METRORAIL PROJECT
Important Lane and Ramp Closures the Week of October 4 - October 11
Please be aware of intermittent Nighttime Road Closures on Centreville Road
 
Phase 2 Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews will be installing girders at night over Centreville Road, at the intersection of the entrance and exit ramps for the eastbound and westbound Dulles Toll Road, for the next two to three weeks.  In order to accomplish this work, nighttime lane closures will be in place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and intermittent full closures (maximum of 20 minutes each) of Centreville Road will take between midnight and 5 a.m. 
 
In addition, work continues on road widening, barrier installation, utility work, excavation, foundation and other construction activities along the Dulles Toll Road (DTR), Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH), Dulles Greenway and Rudder Road, Autopilot Drive, Sunrise Valley Drive and Sunset Hills Road during the week of October 4-11. 
 
Road/station work and inspections along Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and the Dulles Connector Road (DCR) will continue the week of October 4, 2015 and will cause multiple lane closures.
This work will take place both overnights and during the daytime hours.  Please note that dates and times may change as lane closures can be adversely affected by inclement weather or other elements.  Details of the work that will take place this week follow below.  
Leesburg Pike (Route 7) East
 
When:  Saturday, October 3, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
             Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.           
             Friday, October 9, 9:30 p.m. to 12 p.m.
What:    Right thru lane of   Route 7 eastbound closed
Where:  From the DIAAH eastbound ramp to Springhill Road
Why:     Manholes inspection
 
Leesburg Pike (Route 7) West
 
When: Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  
            Friday, October 9, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
What:    Right thru lane of Route 7 westbound closed
Where:  From Spring Hill Road  to Tyco Road
Why:     Concrete bus ramp repairs
 
When:   Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.       
            Friday, October 9, 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
What:    Center - right and right lane of Route 7 westbound and entire bus ramp closed
Where:  From 500 feet east of Spring Hill Road to Tyco Road
Why:     Repairs at concrete bus ramp
 
Dulles Connector Road (DCR) West
 
When:   Sunday, October 4, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.     
What:    Left lane of DCR westbound closed
Where:  DCR from Magarity Road to the Route 123 exit
Why:     Flush, videotape storm drains; clean up structures, videotape underdrains
 
When:  Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.      
What:    Left lane of DCR westbound closed
Where:  DCR from Idylwood Road to Magarity Road 
Why:     Flush, videotape storm drains; clean up structures, videotape underdrains
 
Centreville Road North and South, Night
 
When:   Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Friday, October 9, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Single lane open with the likelihood of INTERMITTENT FULL CLOSURES of Centreville Road from 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. (20 maximum duration) when work is taking place directly overhead.
Where:  Lane closures begin at Woodland Park and Parcher Avenue.  After midnight, full closures begin at the north and south traffic lights at the entrance/exit ramps to the eastbound and westbound DTR.  Note:  During full closures southbound Centreville Road traffic will be able to enter the westbound DTR and northbound Centreville Road traffic will be able to enter the eastbound DTR
Why:     Overhead installation of girders, floor beams and deck beams at the Centreville Road Bridge
 
Dulles Toll Road (DTR) East
 
When:   Sunday, October 4 - Saturday, October 10, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 0.6 to 5.7 (from the overpass of the ramp to the northbound Dulles Greenway to 5/10 mile after the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Jack and bore operations
 
When:   Sunday, October 4 - Saturday, October 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What:    Ramp narrows, left and right side
Where:  Along the ramp to the eastbound DTR from southbound Route 28, and along the ramp from the eastbound DTR to northbound Route 28
Why:     Jack and bore operations

When:   Sunday, October 4 - Saturday, October 10, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 5.7 to 0.6 (from 5/10 mile before the Reston Parkway overpass to the overpass of the ramp to the northbound Dulles Greenway)
Why:     Jack and bore operations

When:   Sunday, October 4, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
            Monday, October 5 - Friday, October 9, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
            Saturday, October 10, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 3.2 to 5.7 (from 2/10 mile before the Monroe Street overpass to 5/10 mile after the Reston Parkway overpass)

Where:  From mile marker 0.3 to 200 feet past Copilot Way (from 2/10 mile after the Rudder Road overpass, continuing along Saarinen Circle past Daily Garage 1), including ramps in the vicinity of Daily Garage 1

Dulles Greenway East
 
When:   Monday, October 5 - Friday, October 9, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  Between mile marker 8.6 and 12.2 (from 1/10 mile after the Ashburn Village Boulevard overpass to 2/10 mile before the mainline toll plaza), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur

Dulles Greenway West
 
When:   Monday, October 5 - Friday, October 9, 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  Between mile marker 12.0 and 8.6 (from 3/10 mile after the mainline toll plaza to 1/10 mile before the Ashburn Village Boulevard overpass), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur
Why:     Road work
 
When:   Monday, October 5, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Two left lanes closed
Where:  Between mile marker 12.0 and 8.6 (from 3/10 mile after the mainline toll plaza to 1/10 mile before the Ashburn Village Boulevard overpass), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur

Where:  Westbound Rudder Road from the ramp from the westbound DIAAH to the intersection with Ariane Way

Autopilot Drive
 
When:   Sunday, October 4 - Saturday, October 10, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Full closure of northbound lanes
Where:  Northbound lanes of Autopilot Drive from Rudder Road to Materials Road closed;
northbound traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes
Why:     Superstructures work
 
Sunrise Valley Drive West
 
When:   Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What:    Right lane closed

When:   Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Friday, October 9, 9:30 a.m. to noon
What:    Right lane closed
Where:  Fairfax County Parkway to Reston Boulevard
Why:     Install construction entrance and deliveries of materials

Access to all businesses in the construction areas along Routes 7 is maintained throughout the work periods. Motorists should stay alert, use extreme caution, and be prepared to allow extra time or alter their travel along these roads.
