Lane Closures and Detours on the Dulles Airport Access Highway and Dulles Toll Road
Friday, July 6, 10 p.m. to Saturday, July 7, 6 a.m.
Saturday, July 7, 10 p.m. to Sunday, July 8, 6 a.m.

On or about Friday night, July 6, and Saturday night, July 7, Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews will begin installing electrical, plumbing and fire suppression equipment on the underside of the pedestrian bridges at the Reston Town Center Station that cross over the westbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) and Dulles Toll Road (DTR).

Friday, July 6, 10 p.m. to Saturday, July 7, 6 a.m.:
  • The three left lanes of the westbound Dulles Toll Road will be closed to traffic near the Wiehle Avenue overpass.
  • A single right lane will be open to traffic, and 20-minute stoppages will occur in the right lane of the westbound DTR and the ramp from Reston Parkway to the westbound DTR (see Figure 1).
  • All lanes will re-open to traffic on Saturday, July 7 at 6 a.m.
Figure 1:  On Friday night, July 6, the three left lanes of the westbound Dulles Toll Road will be closed, and 20-minute stoppages will occur on the single right through lane.

Saturday, July 7, 10 p.m. to Sunday, July 8, 6 a.m.:
  • The westbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) will be diverted to the westbound Dulles Toll Road just after Beulah Road near mile marker 8.3 (see Figure 2).
  • Airport-bound traffic will return to the westbound DIAAH just prior to the Route 28 overpass (see Figure 3).
Utility work on the pedestrian bridges is expected to continue through the month of July. Additional notifications will be issued that detail the traffic control methods specific to each operation and provide directions for any detours that may be required.  All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers are asked to use caution and pay attention to all signage and barricades. Large, slow-moving vehicles may be exiting and entering the roadways at various times.
