Nighttime Detour of Aviation Drive at Dulles International Airport
On or about Friday, Feb. 10, 10 p.m. to Saturday, Feb. 11, 6 a.m.
On or about Friday, Feb. 10 at 10 p.m. to Saturday, Feb. 11 at 6 a.m., Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews will close eastbound and westbound Aviation Drive at Dulles International Airport from the ramp to Saarinen Circle to Windsock Drive in order to safely construct the aerial guideway over Aviation Drive. In addition, the ramp from Saarinen Circle/eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) to Aviation Drive will be closed from Friday, Feb. 10 at 9 p.m. to Saturday, Feb. 11 at 6 a.m. The following detours will be utilized:

  • Traffic on eastbound Aviation Drive destined for the eastbound DIAAH and the westbound Dulles Greenway will be detoured to Saarinen Circle and then to the eastbound DIAAH to exit the airport.
  • Traffic to Windsock Drive will be detoured to westbound Aviation Drive, then southbound Cargo Drive and eastbound Commercial Drive.
  • Shuttle bus traffic will be detoured to Rudder Road, then Autopilot Drive and Aviation Drive to return to the parking garages and the main terminal.
  • Truck deliveries to Gate 141 will use Gate 118.
All tenant and airport facilities will remain accessible. Lane closures and traffic shifts on Aviation Drive will occur on subsequent nights while construction of the aerial guideway deck is ongoing through the winter and spring months.
Drivers should exercise caution, pay attention to barrier and signage and obey all police and flagger instructions.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
