Overnight Detours on Eastbound and Westbound DIAAH
Monday, Mar. 5 at 9 p.m. to Tuesday, Mar. 6 at 5 a.m.

On or about Monday night, Mar. 5 at 9 p.m. to Tuesday morning, Mar. 6 at 5 a.m., drivers will experience detours on the eastbound and westbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) near the Dulles Airport main terminal. The detours are necessary to allow work to take place on the aerial guideway above the roadways. The work is weather dependent and if the crews are not able to complete the work as scheduled, it will be pushed to the following night(s).

Please see details and drawings below.
BEGINNING AT 9 PM (Figure 1):
Between mile markers 0.4 and 0.0, eastbound and westbound DIAAH traffic will be reduced to a single lane.
  • Traffic on the ramp from eastbound Aviation Drive to the terminal will stop before merging with westbound DIAAH traffic.
  • Traffic on the eastbound DIAAH exiting the terminal area will be diverted to eastbound Aviation Drive and then back to the eastbound DIAAH/DTR or Route 28.
  • See Figure 1 for details.

BEGINNING AT 10 PM (Figure 2):
  • Westbound DIAAH will be diverted around the construction area via the Aviation Drive ramps
  • Traffic on the eastbound DIAAH exiting the terminal area will be diverted to eastbound Aviation Drive and then back to the eastbound DIAAH/DTR or Route 28.
  • See Figure 2 for details.

Police will be present along Aviation Drive to give priority to terminal traffic.  Drivers should exercise caution, pay attention to barriers and signage and obey all police and flagger instructions.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
