On or about Friday, April 28, at 10 p.m. through Monday, May 1, at 5 a.m., the tower crane at the Silver Line's Herndon Metrorail Station will be disassembled and removed from the median of the Dulles International Airport Acess Highway (DIAAH).  This activity will detour eastbound traffic on the DIAAH to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road between the Centreville Road bridge and the Fairfax County Parkway overpass for the duration of the weekend.  Lane closures will also occur on the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR) and the westbound DIAAH.   Detailed information follows.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Friday, April 28, at 10 p.m. to Monday, May 1, at 5 a.m.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic to the Fairfax County Parkway and Reston Parkway will be diverted to the Dulles Toll Road at mile marker 1.8 . Signage will be in place to direct drivers.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic between mile markers 2.7 and 4.0 will be diverted to the left lane of the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR).
  • Eastbound DTR traffic will be restricted to the two right lanes.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic will return to the DIAAH at mile marker 4.0, just prior to the Fairfax County Parkway overpass and all lanes will be restored for eastbound DTR use.
Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The left lane of the westbound DIAAH will be closed between the Fairfax County Parkway overpass and the Monroe/Van Buren Street overpass.
Drivers are asked to use caution and pay attentive to all signage, barricades, adjusted speed limits. Large, slow-moving vehicles may be exiting and entering the highway at various times.
